Groups FAQ

We want to ensure that your group has the best experience possible when you visit the museum, so we’ve put together some Frequently Asked Questions from groups. Please read through these before visiting with your group to ensure your visit is as enjoyable as possible for your group and for us.

        • Is there parking for coaches /Buses?

          There is a drop off point at either Westmoreland Street or D’Olier Street. There is coach parking not too far away on Fleet Street
        • Is there a coffee shop?

          We currently do not have a coffee shop.
        • How do I book?

        • Is there a discounted group rate?

          We offer a discounted rate for groups of 10 or more. The rate for language schools, primary & post primary schools, scouts  & youth groups U18 is €8.50 per person with teachers & leaders going free.For rate on adult, student, senior and other groups please contact the groups department on 00353 1 6718373 or email
        • Can I visit the Museum for research purposes before my groups visit?

          Yes we do offer a free pass to teachers and group leaders who which to visit the museum in advance of their booking.
        • Is there a gift shop?

          There is a gift shop on the ground floor where you can purchase souvenirs and have your own hand molded in Wax.
        • Is the tour guided?

          The tour is self guided visitors get a map and there is audio in each of the rooms to explain the scene.
        • Are there activity sheets available?

        • What is the maximum number permitted in a group?

          We cater for groups of all sizes however we do ask that larger groups are booked during our off peak hours 10am – 12pm or 4pm – 6pm. We will divide each group up into groups of ten when touring the museum to eliminate over crowding.
        • Is there an area to eat a packed lunch?

          Unfortunately there is very little space in the gift shop so we cannot currently provide a packed lunch area for students.
        • What if I need to cancel my group booking or my group is running late?

          Group organisers should inform us if they will be unable to to keep the time confirmed or if the group will be more than 15 minutes late arriving at the museum. We will do our best to accommodate a group that arrives late or early, we cannot be held responsible for curtailing of the visit or for any dispute or issue arising from the late or early arrival of the group. If you need to cancel your group we would ask that you give us at least 24 hours notice.
        • What methods of payment are acceptable?

          Payment can be made either by cash, credit card or cheque, in advance or on arrival. Payment in advance can be made by phone through the booking office 00535 1 6718373 and payment on arrival can be made directly at our reception desk located at the entrance.
